Why Practice at Western Idaho Judo Institute (WIJI)?

  1. Instruction by qualified instructors that are certified by USJF.
  2. All Black Belts are certified by USJF & Kodokan in Japan. Current Black Belts at WIJI: Head instructor-Robert Fukuda, 5th Dan; John Sigurdson & David Fukuda, 3rd Dan, Bradley Burrows, Dartanyon Burrows, and Michael Eldred, 2nd Dan; and MacKenji Burrows, 1st Dan.
  3. Western Idaho Judo Institute also known as WIJI has a reputation for technical excellence.
  4. Dartanyon Burrows, David Fukuda, Michael Eldred, Robert Nagaki, and MacKenji Burrows have been nationally ranked elite athletes. Robert Fukuda has an IJF-A referee license; Bradley Burrows, David Fukuda, and Dartanyon Burrows have National Referee licenses; with Michael and MacKenji having their Regional Referee licenses. We also have a certified Kata instructor.
  5. Many WIJI students excel academically.
  6. Good Judo students are also good students in school, and WIJI students excel academically as well as in Judo. WIJI students have been awarded numerous academic scholarships.

  8. Tatami and dojo are cleaned on a regular basis.

  10. More one-on-one instruction. Discipline and proper etiquette is emphasized.
